"Probably the best hotel I've stayed in, even with the small non issues."
Overall Score5.0/ 5
Wow. I was NOT expecting that! I'm not one who cares much about luxury hotels and such, but I don't wand a roadside motel either, so it's gotta be a good price for okay quality. This surprised me positively! I was only looking for a hotel with a pool and hot tub that wasn't too far from Sanibel Islands, but I got so much more than that! I read someone say that when you walk in, the hotel smells amazing. True! Here comes the first negative thing, though: check in took at least 20 minutes that is, the line. Even though it was the middle of the afternoon, there was only one person at the front desk and we happened to arrive exactly when one of the other guests was having some kind of problem, so they were deep in discussion with that employee. Now, I understand they have to make everyone happy, but I don't think it's acceptable to wait in line for 20 minutes when you just need five minutes to check in (to an already paid booking) after a long trip just because someone else is having a bad day. Another person came to help and. a lady cut the line and went in front of me to check in with her. She saw that, but didn't do anything about it. Ok. well. after waiting, I went to the room and discovered a full kitchen! Wow! I didn't even pay attention to that when I was booking, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise and we ended up having dinner in our rooms one of the days. The room was also clean and big, with a very comfortable bed. A suggestion here would be to add another trashcan, as the only one available was the one in the bathroom, which was very small and not nearly enough. I have to say, though, that I'm a very light sleeper and I don't think there was a single time in my life when I had a good night's sleep at a hotel. This was it. I couldn't hear a sound from outside, it was great! A few negative things are: the Internet is very bad to the point it was unusable, so I had to turn on my 4g the entire time I was there; there were only one bottle of conditioner and one of shampoo and they were the smallest hotel sized hair products I've ever seen in my life, but at least the front desk gave us more when we asked. I'm a girl with long, thick hair, a dime sized amount of conditioner won't do. We also read that they would provide towels, umbrellas and beach chairs and they did! That's GREAT benefit! But I do have to say it also too 20 minutes to half an hour of waiting in the lobby for them to get the beach stuff. we were just about to give up when the front desk person called us. Thankfully, we were able to keep it for the time we stayed there, so we didn't have to go through that again. After a long day, we came back to enjoy the pool and hot tub, to find out the tub was a great temperature and the hot tub had strong jets! Lovely! Also, there was only a family with quiet, well behaved children around at the time, so it was perfect! We used it the next day and it was also great, we even sat at the lounge chair that's more like a bed, very comfortable. Hours are standard, close at 10 PM, which to me is too early, but it's basically like any other hotel. Breakfast the next day was. weird? Good and bad at the same time. While they were missing some basics like bacon and more fruits (the ONLY fruit was melon and a few pineapples mixed in there the next day), they had amazing, apparently homemade Greek yogurt, very good coffee and seemingly freshly squeezed juices. The space to have breakfast was huge, so we didn't have to awkwardly bump into other guests trying to make their way. Oh, I do have to say the hours suck. It only goes until 9:30 and I read someone saying they are very strict about it, so we had to get there at least a half hour before then and we're a young couple (in our mid 20s) who's clearly not interested in waking up early during our vacation, but breakfast is a money saver, so we had to take advantage of it. Later that day, we also got the end of the cocktail mixes they offer Monday through Wednesday. Also ends too early, at 7:30 PM, but we managed to get some chips, tortillas, sauce, cheese and banana pudding. We saw what looked like mocktails being taken away as we were arriving :( I also saw people with plates of what looked like fried chicken and cans of beer, so it seems like it's basically a free dinner. Finally, the location is amazing, only about a 10 minute drive from Fort Myers beach and literally FOUR minutes from the Sanibel Island toll perfect if you're going to all the most popular places in the area. Overall, although there were some small things I didn't like, the benefits far outweigh them, so this is an amazing hotel that I'd definitely come back to and recommend.
