Environment was such that we had a good night’s rest followed by a really good breakfast. Staff was friendly.
They're all so so and all overpriced. Don't let the taxes and fees surprise you. And if you're looking for a pool, call and ask if it's open yet. Breakfast was also mediocre. We "weren't on a pet floor" because we weren't traveling with pets, but there was a very upset dog across the hall all evening. Good times in Carlsbad. Remember folks, you're there for the caves.
They need to do maintenance on both of the rooms I stayed in. The window trim was missing so the wind and dirt was blowing in the room during a dust storm, so I asked to be moved to a new room. Then in the second room as well as the first the showers leaked and did not have very warm water to shower with.
I called two months in advance for our trip and specifically asked if the hot tub was running and was guaranteed that it was open. When we arrived it was shut down and the lady at the front desk said it was closed for over a year! There was bottle caps at the bottom of the pool and the waffle badder was sour when we made our breakfast.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff.
Room was fine. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast would have been much better if it was hot. Oatmeal was even cool to the touch. This should be easy to fix.
The room was clean, comfy. Would stay again.
